This 1.8 mile round trip hike is not a must see in Yosemite, but is certainly a fun one if you have some extra time. Quiet, serene, and beautiful, McGurk Meadow is a place that is perfect just to relax and really take in Yosemite’s natural majesty. From sun dappled paths, to multicolored wildflowers, to burbling brooks, this is one location which seems straight out of a storybook. If you are looking for a place to unwind after all the exploring you’ve done, McGurk Meadow isn’t a bad place to do so.
We wouldn’t recommend this trail for relaxing if it wasn’t an easy one; fortunately, it is a 1 out of 10, meaning that it is more of a leisurely stroll than a hike. There is a slight incline in certain places, but it is by far among the easiest of Yosemite’s hiking trails.
Hiking Time and Distance
Because of the easy nature of this hike, it should only take you 30 – 60 minutes to finish the entirety of its 1.8 miles. But, there is no rush, and we’d argue it’d be best to take this one slow so you can truly enjoy what it offers.
When should you come?
Anytime is a good time to visit McGurk Meadow, but the best time would be June and July, when the wildflowers are out in full force. This is when the meadow is at the height of its beauty, and is when you will get the best photo-ops.
Trailhead Elevation: 6,900 feet, with a 100 feet elevation change.
