In 1949, in a quiet swath of forest inside Yosemite National Park, a group of homeowners decided to preserve their mountain homes and maintain them for future generations to enjoy. This group not only wanted their families to experience the wonder of the national park, but also to share the awe-inspiring place with the public. Together, they later founded The Redwoods In Yosemite dba Wawona Property Management Inc. In 2024, The Redwoods In Yosemite is celebrating 75 years of providing unparalleled service and unforgettable experiences to guests.
Since then, The Redwoods In Yosemite has been a beacon of hospitality, welcoming travelers from around the world to one of the most iconic places in the world. Over the past seven and a half decades, The Redwoods group of vacation homes has evolved into a timeless institution, blending long-standing tradition with a deep commitment to preserving its heritage.
Today, The Redwoods In Yosemite operates more than 115 vacation home rentals, wedding and event center, in the town of Wawona inside Yosemite National Park. The majority of the homes are all individually owned by 73 shareholders, and can range from intimate log cabins to modern, spacious vacation homes for the whole family, creating a unique lodging community for travelers to the Yosemite region.
“We are immensely proud to celebrate 75 years of serving our guests with the utmost dedication and passion,” said Christian Mueller, General Manager of The Redwoods In Yosemite. “This anniversary is a testament to the enduring legacy of the families who first built homes here and the unwavering commitment of our staff to provide exceptional service and create lasting memories for our guests.”
“The Redwoods is not just a management company, we are deeply woven into the fabric of this community,” Mueller said. “We’ve seen a lot over the years – from fires and the pandemic to a brutal windstorm in 2021 that forced evacuations and have always strived to give back. We work closely with the National Park Service and the Wawona Community as well.”
All of The Redwoods In Yosemite cabins are inside Yosemite National Park about 4.5 miles inside the south gate on Highway 41/The Wawona Road in the charming town of Wawona. Though less famous than Yosemite Valley, Wawona boasts its own nearby travel-worthy destinations, along with convenient places to stay during your visit to Yosemite National Park. It is the closest community to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, which contains more than 500 mature sequoias, including the Grizzly Giant and the California Tunnel Tree. Chilnualna Falls is the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite – just steps from many of the cabins. The trail to the top leaves right from the town of Wawona with beautiful cascades and scenic vistas along the way.
Throughout the year, The Redwoods will share this joyous occasion with our guests, staff, homeowners and shareholders. Festivities will kick off with our Annual Homeowners’ Meeting on April 5, 2024. We will continue to update everyone with our calendar of events!
