Bear Talks at The Redwoods Fireside Room and Deck
This summer, join Ranger Jill at The Redwoods Fireside Deck every Sunday and Wednesday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. to learn about Yosemite Bears and how to be Bear(y) Aware on the road, at your cabin, on the trail and in the wild!
Our brief outline will focus on a few main principles, some of which are:
- Never leave food or toiletries in your vehicle overnight (this includes air fresheners, chewing gum, insect spray, etc.)
- Keep first floor windows closed and all doors locked when asleep or when cabin is unoccupied
- Never leave food or toiletries outside unattended. You must be within arm’s reach from all food when outside – bears are smart and sneaky. They’re watching you!
- If a bear approaches you at your cabin, scare it away by yelling really loudly and making yourself as big as possible. Do NOT abandon your food or ever feed a wild animal.
- For all bear sightings, report to the Save-a-Bear hotline at 209-372-0322
- Obey speed limit signs everywhere to save Yosemite’s wildlife!
This program is complimentary, kid & pet friendly, open to the public and snacks and soft drinks are provided.
