The Redwoods In Yosemite vacation rentals are located in the charming town of Wawona, just off Highway 41. Wawona is about 5 miles inside the south entrance gate, and close to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. In fact, one (relatively long) trail takes you directly from Wawona to the sequoia grove.
The town of Wawona’s most prominent landmark is The Wawona Hotel, a grand Victorian hotel with whitewashed verandahs sitting on a grassy knoll just above the highway. However, once you turn off the main highway you’ll find the true heart of Wawona. This friendly community hugs the banks of the South Fork of the Wild and Scenic Merced River. There are many wonderful activities nearby if you don’t feel like climbing into the car, as well as easy access to the greater Yosemite area and all that the National Park has to offer.
You’ll find everything from cozy one-bedroom cabins to luxury estates with eight bedrooms that can sleep up to 22 people. Some homes belong to rangers and other local community members, while others are vacation rentals for you to enjoy during your visit.
If you can’t find just the thing that you’re looking for, please give us a call us at 1-877-753-8566.
Our reservations team will be happy to help you find the perfect Yosemite vacation rental! The Redwoods team can give you more information on Yosemite in general and share with you all the options you’ll have for things to do if you are staying in one of our cabins.

Week-Long Itinerary Ideas
There are plenty of Yosemite activities to fill a week-long visit. Here is just one set of ideas:
Day One – Get to know Wawona! Check the local library or the Yosemite History Center nearby. Wawona has two local small grocery stores: The Pine Tree Market and the Wawona General Store near the Wawona Hotel and Gas Station. Our Front Desk staff will be happy to assist you with planning your day for anything extra!
Day Two – Pack a picnic lunch and hike the amazing Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias just a few miles away (a FREE shuttle leaves from the Wawona General Store every 1/2 hour – seasonal) then go for a ride on the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad (we have discount coupons for you)!
Day Three – In Season, spend the day at Glacier Point! Stop on the way to take two (1/2 mile each way) short hikes to Taft Point (Fissures into Yosemite Valley) and Sentinel Dome (Spectacular 360-degree views)! OR stay & play like a local on the banks of the South Fork of the Merced River (check out the Swinging Bridge).
Day Four – Head into Yosemite Valley (stop at the famous Wawona Tunnel View and the spectacular Bridalveil Fall on the way) for history, waterfall hiking, dining and shopping, and of course, El Capitan, the granite monolith that extends 3,000 feet from base to summit and one of the world’s favorite challenges for rock climbers.
Day Five – Jump on an ATV/Jeep tour (just outside the park), take a spa day, ride a horse, or go axe throwing! Dine out in one of many fabulous area restaurants!
Day Six – Head up to the high country and picnic in beautiful Tuolumne Meadows or at Tenaya Lake on a hot summer day, or visit the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Day Seven – Enjoy that last cup of coffee at Chilnualna Falls or on your private deck before you, sadly, must leave Yosemite and The Redwoods. We know that you’ll be back again soon!
